Learn how to create your own graphic novel or comic from start to finish. One of the most acclaimed editors and critics in the medium lives right here in Charleston and offers one-on-one or group instruction.
Regardless of whether you want to work on a small personal minicomic or a full-length graphic novel, I can not only help you better understand the medium but I know which publishers will be most receptive to your work, and can guide you through the processes of submission and creation. If you’re new to comics, but have always wanted to write or draw your own, I can provide a curriculum to give you a much greater understanding of the industry and the art form.
I am publisher/editor of a widely-acclaimed comics magazine and have interviewed some of the finest artists in the medium including multiple award-winning cover artist James Jean (Fables), The Brothers Hernandez (Love & Rockets), Paul Pope (Batman Year 100, THB), Dash Shaw (Bottomless Bellybutton), and many more. I was consulting editor on the Eisner Award nominated comics anthology Rosetta. And I've written about comics for Punk Planet, Pop Matters, Ninth Art, The Comics Journal, Comic Book Life, Hanah Korean Journal, and The Library Journal among others.
The rate for individual instruction is only $25 for the first 2-hour meeting. After that you can schedule 1-hour or 2-hour sessions as little or as often as you like.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
