Manager in Training Program
The Manager in Training (MIT) Program is a blended-learning, ten week program focused on all aspects involved in managing a multi-million dollar business. Training takes place in domestic and international store locations. Each week the program focuses on a different aspect of running the business. The program trains the MIT on the necessary principles of management; including store experience, recruiting, diversity, human resources, store operations, and stockroom systems. The program is structured and provides the MIT with daily and weekly feedback from the store and district manager. The MIT completes daily readings and exercises, experiences and learns through onsite situations and completes weekly assessments. The MIT must successfully complete the training program to be promoted to the Assistant Manager role.

Initially the position will focus on leading the capture of key opportunity for our company and then act as Program Manager on this multi-year effort. The position is anticipated to grow into the capture and management of multiple opportunities with SPAWAR and related organizations.
Proven ability to quickly assimilate into a new environment at the early or late stages of a contract, and qualified to manage complex programs with high technical content.
Will be familiar with the challenges of working in a multi-discipline, multi-function environment, working with both US based and global programs with a high level of customer contact.
Will have demonstrated a high level of self-direction, motivation, and interpersonal skills.
Principle responsibilities to include:
o Act as the primary point of contact for the customer and be accountable for customer satisfaction for assigned projects.
o Represent the program team in meetings with the customer when required.
o Develop and direct the program team via an Integrated Program Team (IPT) structure, working with members representing various functional organizations to energize and effectively lead the team and monitor the project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.
o Deliver and communicate the committed business case and provide senior management within the organization with the necessary information for managing the business via formal Internal Program Reviews (IPR).
o Work within the established program reporting structure, providing concise, accurate program status, financial and forecast reports.
o Responsible for profit & loss (P&L) to include revenue, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), and cash management.
o Support and understand contract requirements to include Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and Subcontract Data Requirements Lists (SCDRLs).
o Manage the programs subcontractor and vendor performance and work with the Subcontracts and/or Purchasing Manager as appropriate to determine the proper flow-down of contractual requirements.
o Manage the development and maintenance of the work breakdown structure (WBS), consistent with funding allocations, and the work packages (control accounts) necessary to deliver the program.
o Must be knowledgeable of Earned Value management (EVM), Cost Performance Reports (CPR) as they relate to the WBS, schedule and cost plans. o Responsible for the identification and management of risk, including cost and technical risk, and develop risk mitigation and management strategies.
o Review and report progress against plan (schedule and financial), identify when corrective action is required and initiate the necessary program changes, reallocating resources when necessary to meet program objectives.
o Support the Bid & Proposal (B&P) process by providing or coordinating technical, schedule and cost input as required for the development of a response/offer that is compliant to a customers specification or RFQ/RFP.
o Ability to develop long and mid-term program goals.
o Maintain status of orders, proposal, and funding allocations to update forecasts and address customer concerns.
o Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
1. BS required, MBA preferred.
2. Professional Project/Program Manager certification desired.
3. 10 years of project management experience.
4. Proven P&L management responsibility.
5. Experience within a Job Cost environment.
6. Experience with direct customer contact specific to schedule and technical issues.
7. Prior experience with Department of Defense/MIL standards and military equipment qualification process is required.
Other Job Requirements: Working experience with MS project management tools including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project Familiar with material requirements planning (MRP) systems, bill of materials (BOMs) and engineering change order (ECO) processing
