I design home speakers as a hobby and I bought this a few years ago mainly because people I worked with people who were into it and I went a bit overboard with some serious bass in my Durango. I am 39 yrs old and don't have the desire for so much bass anymore. It would shake, no not the mirror, but the steering column. I used it a few months, then got a new car and put it in storage. The speaker itself is top of the line(probably just under a W6, but with more surface area). It weighs about 50 lbs itself. I do woodworking and made the enclosure with double-walled MDF and constrained layer vibration dampening technique. (Basically box inside of box, seperated by a dampening layer. It was reinforced with epoxy inside and coated with vibration stopping spray. Yes, I go overboard. This speaker puts out tremendous bass and needs a tremendous box. I ported the box with an eight inch wide port-I forget how long, it required it due to the air it moves to prevent air "chuffing" when at max volume. The nominal (not max) watts for the sub is 1500w. Ported it can reach xMax with 600-700w. It's controlled excursion in one direction is 1 inch. (2 inches total) Slightly uncontrolled is better than 3 inches! The box could easily be sealed for more high wattage handling and more bass at around 20 hrtz. Ported it is very loud at 30Hrtz and up.
Box size is 19x45x12, a perfect fit in the back of most SUVs. I used hex bolts to attach speaker to box. The speaker is inset into the box (flush).Original sub cost was about $400, I doubt anyone would build this box for less than $150. Speakers leads are 4 guage wire I beleive.
This speaker makes a massive home sub too. I suggest seal it if you do. A pro amp or plate amp would be required for best performance.
The Rockford Fosgate amp was also barely used. It's a Punch 700S in original package.. 4 ohm load =175x2, 2 ohm = 350x2, bridged mono is 800w (real watts).
Sub alone is for sale for $200 and the amp alone is $100. Together I'm just asking $250. First one gets them.
