Thanks for looking at my posting. This may sound crazy but i need some tips on how to start going to church. I know alot of people may think just pick a place and go.. Its not that easy. Growing up I only went to church a few times with friends.. I am 26 now and and a little bit shy and dont know that i would feel comfortable just walking into any church when i have no idea on what to expect. I really think I missed out growing up on believing in something bigger and better then myself and I am getting to an age where I feel its time for me to do this. I am clueless on what religion is best for me. I have tried to look things up online. Anyways any suggestions of where to start would be great! Thank you!!

Reform sex offender laws for those who are a non-threat to society (USA)

I am asking that anyone who believes that the sex offender laws need to be reformed so that only the dangerous sex offenders need to be under these laws to sign a petetion. There are many familes who are in my situtation and who are suffering the consequences of humiliation and unjust because they have a loved one who is not a threat to children but are listed in the same category as rapist and pedophiles. At 18 my husband had mutual sex with a 17 year old in college. They met at a party and the 17 year old portrayed herself as a college student at that time. They got comfortable with each other and had sex. The party got raided and they got caught. The police took in my husband and from there the state picked up his case because the girl did not want to press charges. Because alcohol was involved with their meeting, my husband was convicted of 5 years probation and community service. After his five year term of community service, he was supposed to have been released from his conviction and be done with it. However, when they passed the laws to make all sex offenders register for life, he got grandfathered into it and is now experiencing the unjust and humiliating actions that come with it when people find out that he is a sex offender. I have been married to my husband for 13 years and we have three children, a two year old, a 9 year old and a 14 year old. I can assure you that he is not a threat to children or society. We have lived in a couple of cities and have never had a problem with choosing where we want to live because he is not considered a pedophile or a threat. However, we recently moved to another state and have been told that he can't live or work within 2000 ft of a school, a daycare, or a college. Well, we only moved there because he got a job transfer for a great career opportunity. Unfortunately, his job is near a school and so is the house that we are living in. He is being forced to quit his career and move away from his home. Because of this, it is putting a strain on our family and we may need to move back to Texas because of this. He is currently staying in another place that is not 2000ft from a school and our family is having a hard time with this. I do not see the justice in this and how this is making society a better and safer place. Yes, I do want to know where the high threat sex offenders are for the sake of my own kids and they should be registered for life. But not someone such as my husband who did what so many college students do at that age (have mutual sex) nor has he repeated his offense again. He has proven to be no threat to society. How can they label him in the same category as those who are a threat? In addition to that, the girl was 17 years old, not 7. She knew what she was doing. How can they say that it is against the law for a 17 year old to choose to have consensual sex with an 18 year old, but it is okay for her to make the decision drop out of school.

So i have been dating a guy that drinks way to much. He has gotten treatment in the past and stayed sober for a year. He really has alot of potential, has a great job, so funny and can be so sweet. But the drinking is OUT of control. Recently when he is drunk he is name calling and then of course the next day is "so sorry.. i was drinking u know i did not mean it." I am strong enough to walk away and have closed myself off to getting closer to him. But i was wondering if anybody has any advice on treatment centers in Charleston or any advice on what to do.. please dont respond saying to just leave.. i more just want him to get help. I 'm not sure if I'm posting on the right sight but I am pleading for help for my 3 month old puppy her name is Myrtel and she is a sweet female Jack Russel. Myrtel got underneath someone who did not see her and she was accidently stepped on. At first I thought she had serious internal injuries because they way she was hollering. I did not have the money but i collected some from a few people and took her to the animal hospital on a saturday and they would not even take x-rays w/ out 482.00 so I had to bring her home. I am trying to baby her the best I can. I know her leg or hip is broke. The hospital managed to tell me they could feel a break. I really need someone to help me get her surgey so she can be a puppy again. If there is a Doctor or vet reading this please can you help Myrtel please?? The Jaycees organization is a world wide leadership building organization for young professionals age 18-41. Jaycees gain these leadership skills through training, community service, event planning and fund raising.

So what does this have to do with our Lowcountry teens...EVERYTHING!

Within the Jaycee organization, Jaycee members have the opportunity to create Jayteen chapters, offering the same opportunities to our younger pre-Jaycees.

My name is Amber Wright. I live in North Charleston, SC and I am approaching my 6th year anniversary as a Charleston Jaycee. I began as a newbie to the Charleston area, not knowing anyone. I joined only to make friends but what I got was more than I could have ever expected. I've since served in a various Vice President and Event Chairperson roles as well as serving my chapter as the 2008 Charleston Jaycee President.

The Jaycee organization has provided me with more leadership skills, feeling of self-worth, self confidence and friends than I could have ever gained on my own. As I approach my 6th year I want to share this experience with the teens of my community and surrounding areas.

What are the requirements for becoming a Lowcountry Jayteen?
1. Be within the ages of 13 to 17
2. Be within the Charleston area of South Carolina. This includes John's Island, James Island, Folly Beach, Charleston, north Charleston, Hanahan, Summerville, Daniel Island and Mount Pleasant.
3. Have your parents permission to contact me, in fact, have them contact me first. Safety for our Jayteens is PRIORITY NUMBER ONE.
