Lost my job two months ago and now all hell is breaking lose…

Car payments, insurance, county taxes, the bills stack up, day after day.

The good news is that I now have another job. Started two weeks ago.

The bad news is that it’s a commission-only job and because this is the holiday season, I probably won’t make any money until the end of January or early February.

So I am looking for a special rent deal with a home owner who understands that life is not always going the way you want it and is willing to be accommodating.

A retired person who has a large house might be the perfect landlord or landlady

Landlord is planning on evicting me next week although I have paid my rent religiously for fifteen months and this is the first time I can not.

We can discuss how you want to set up this arrangement if you are interested.

I am a mature divorced, white professional. Very clean, very quiet, with limited space needs, someone who needs a quiet environment. I work in West Ashley area but would not mind living in the country within a 10-15 miles radius.

No pets, no dependents, no loud music. Don’t smoke, don’t do drugs. Quiet lifestyle.

I don’t even have a TV. Enjoy reading and writing.

Also have experience as a handyman and can help on repairs around the house. We might be able to work out something there. Have personal references.

A garage apartment would be great. I now live in less than 400feet and am perfectly fine. Storage space would be great too.

I am aware that what I am asking is rather special but my circumstances since I have been fired without a day’s warning are special too.

I am a 46 year old worker/scholar/creative looking for a quiet, private, and large room to rent for the long-term. By quiet I really mean library quiet or at least a room not near the living room or any other room where there is a loud TV, door banging, loud phone conversations, etc though I do enjoy the weekly or occasional dinner party or social gathering. I work as a soup chef at an upscale retirement community here in Mount Pleasant and am active in the Mount Pleasant/Charleston community at large. After work I enjoy spending my free time reading/studying, and enjoying my avocations of writing and painting. I am a friendly and considerate person and you literally won’t even know I am around most of the time. I am happy to help out with house chores as needed.

Though I am very social and enjoy making new friends, etc., I absolutely require a large amount of undisturbed quiet time in which to work and create. I am pretty much allergic to cats and dogs. I mostly enjoy living with friendly intelligent people who are creative, think outside the box a little and see life as an opportunity for continual growth and learning. And just in case it makes a difference to you, I am gay.

Sometimes I may occasionally invite a friend or two over for coffee and conversation, I am not a partier. I don’t drink and don’t smoke. I’ve never had a problem with people who have wine with dinner or something, but do not like being around people who’s personality changes when they drink or who become loud when they drink or who like to get drunk. I am addicted to coffee however.

Currently I am renting a 13x13 master bedroom with a private bath in Mount Pleasant. I get along great with my housemate and her son, but there are two other renters and overall mostly due to the layout and structure of the house, it is not nearly as quiet as I had hoped. Also for four months now someone has been pilfering my food from the fridge and I really have little taste for dishonesty.

I will be able to move on February 1 in order to give my housemate a month notice, but if I have to wait until March, April, etc., that’s fine with me. I’d much rather find the RIGHT place than rush to get out of here.
