Here is a very special bike. Its a 1971 Schwinn Stingray Apple Krate. This bike has a very cool story behind it. It was owned by some kid who lived on a farm back in the 70's. He rode it up until some time in the late 70s, and then it sat in a barn buried behind a bunch of farming equipment for over 40 years! It still had playing cards taped to the frame and spokes, date on the cards were 1974, but they were so brittle they disintegrated. I got it cleaned up and got most of the rust off, but kept the patina and originality of it. I tried salvaging the original chain, but it was too froze up, so it has a new chain, and it had a regular 60s stingray back tire and pedals on it, so I got the correct krate ones on it. Other than that, it is all original. Amazingly enough, the brakes and shifter still worked perfect after 40 years of sitting! I couldn't believe it myself! The shifter needed a little tweaking, but that was it. I've ridden the bike over 20 miles this year alone, and it rides, stops, and shifts perfect. I have mainly left it the way the kid had it back in the 70s, same seat height, and left the decor on the handlebars the same. That's the way I would keep it, and I've preserved it the best I can. This bike has a pretty neat back story, and I am passing this on to the new owner. Serious inquiries only! No time wasters! show contact info
