Take this anyway you want.

My son is a VP of Engineering with GE and his group travels to China 6 or 7 times a year to meet with their vendors that supply critical parts for the GE Turbine Division.
A year ago each trip was as much a social gathering as business, it was held in a hotel over 3 days and each vendor hosted the daily meetings and then they usually all went out for dinner and socializing.

The last 4 times he has been there the Chinese Government has explicitly warned the vendors that all meetings with the Americans are to be held between 8 and 6 in the factory boardroom only. No after hour socializing would be allowed.

Here's the fun part, the GE group from the UK still meet in a hotel and go out after.

And a pro-log to this is, the orders the US GE receives now are always delayed and incomplete due to "backorders"

I guess this is Trumps idea of "trade wars are easy to win"
