Job Description: Pipelayer Installer
1. Pipeline Installation: Lay and position pipes for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
1. Trench Preparation: Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines or hand tools.
2. Quality Assurance: Check slopes and alignments for conformance to project requirements using levels and lasers.
3. Pipe Assembly: Cut pipes to required lengths and connect pieces by sealing joints using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
4. Heavy Equipment Coordination: Guide heavy equipment operators (like excavators and backhoes) when moving and setting pipes into deep trenches.
5. Maintenance: Locate existing pipes needing repair using magnetic or radio indicators, and replace defective or misaligned sections.
6. Site Management: Cover, backfill, and compact pipes with earth or other materials, and secure the work zone
7. Pay Rate: $20-$23 hour
