I'm looking for a "Flathead Ford V8" mechanic that can help me get my car running, and the potential crack or leak in the side of the engine fixed. Its an early style 1932-1937 Flathead V8. If there is anyone who knows how to work on them, please contact me. My engine currently is not running and has no spark, but I did get the distributor rebuilt with new points and all, I still have to get new distributor caps and a coil for it in order for it to run. I am somewhat confident I can get it to run, but that's not really my biggest dilemma. The real problem is what looks to be an epoxy patch on the side of the block near the bottom of the cylinder head between cylinder 3 and 4 where coolant is leaking out the water jacket hole. There is a possibility that the block is cracked in that location and will need to be pinned or brazed. I did not want to disassemble the engine in order to fix this if possible, but I am certain the engine will have to be pulled.
I didn't really want to repatch it and run a bunch of stop leak in it because I feared that it would be hard on the water pumps and make the engine run hot on an engine that already is prone to overheating issues.
I included some pictures of the patch.
Call, text or email me if you are experienced with these engines. Machining experience with them is a major +.
